Cascade Bonsai Premna From A Small Cutting

Share
My love for premna materials just keeps on growing because of this little one that I planted 5 months ago. A cutting so ordinary, I didn’t even think that it will turn out to be as promising. Let the picture talk about its characters. Its bends resemble that of a tree that underwent many troubles in its lifetime. In the case of this cutting, I brought the wiring to the extreme. I bent it to a point that it slightly breaks.
One fun thing about working with cuttings aside from the fact that bonsai from cuttings is sustainable is that you get to play with flexible branches. You can bend it until you’re happy with it without risking too much on its breakage.
I also want to point out a hint of sustainability I made while caring for this material. I used an old plastic water bottle to plant it in and it obviously seems happy.
Well-draining soil combination:
5 pumice
3 carbonized/burnt rice hull
2 vermicast
