Typhoon Quinta

It’s a not-so-good day for our bonsai community here in the Philippines as typhoon Quinta sweeps not only the gardens but also the house and public structures in many different areas of South Luzon and Northern Visayas. Even worse, typhoon Quinta almost destroyed my bonsai garden!

The sad view:

typhoon quinta destroyed my bonsai garden

My garden is located in Oriental Mindoro which is South of Luzon and I am amongst those who felt the damages caused by this strong typhoon.

This is not new to us. We are visited by typhoons regularly so this is kind of expected. And even though most of our properties, gardens, and bonsai trees get damaged, still, what’s really important is that we are safe and away from harm.

Bonsai Community Help after Typhoon Quinta

A lot of my bonsai friends in the area also ended up getting the same scenario in their gardens. And that tells me that I am not alone in this. I am just thankful that they have already expressed their willingness to help me get my bonsai garden sorted again when they finished with theirs. True bonsai friends indeed! Yahooo!

I made a video content to detail the destruction caused by typhoon Quinta in my garden.

Always be Prepared

This may serve as a lesson to our bonsai friends out there who live in countries frequently visited by typhoons just like the Philippines. Always be prepared and it would be a lot better to have your trees placed in a room or any safe place that strong winds can’t penetrate.
I know some who really invested to have a greenhouse made of glass and concreted for the trees. A bonsai addict like me understands why!

What I should have done

I should have anticipated this but then due to my lack of preparation and attention, this happened. But that is okay because I have a lot more reason and time to bond with my trees now.

If you are located within the regions affected by typhoon Quinta. Please share your bonsai garden pictures.
