Young Premna Cutting: Full Twist Style
Young premna microphylia are forgiving when it comes to bending/wiring.

One good thing about premnas is that their stems grow no matter what size. And that fascinates me a lot. As you notice in the above image. There are short and long stems.
I think Prema’s ability to grow and ramify its why branches even at an early age is one of the reasons they do really well in most of my mame bonsai projects.

As I’ve said, premnas are very good as mame material. This tree is quite long, and I thought it would look great if I bent it to my satisfaction.
I have always been inspired by the Japanese way of bending trees (specific pines), forcing them to the limits, even to the point of cracking or breaking a branch.

With its fragility, I am lucky that this little tree didn’t completely snap during wiring. It has been growing for a couple of months now with its wire on and is doing well and well.
Another point to consider when taking care of mame or small-size bonsai is watering. Because the tree is planted in a small pot, the water runs dry quickly. So it is best to water them at least once a day. I water my mame premnas daily around 5PM because this is my available time.
